QUICKSHOT - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

For the best results in using Quickshot™ as your decking fastener consider the following:

WHAT IS THE BEST DRILL GUN TO USE WITH QUICKSHOT™?

We do recommend you used an impact driver with Zenith Quickshot™ screws. If you are using a conventional drill gun make sure you have the setting on low-med RPM (Approx. 1000 RPM) and adjust your clutch setting to medium, the ideal result is for your drill gun to stop driving the screw upon reaching the desired countersunk depth (torque/resistance). A corded drill gun without a clutch is not recommended.

HOW CAN I PREVENT THE HEAD (DRIVER BIT RECESS) FROM STRIPPING (CAMOUT)?
Once the driver bit engages with the head of the screw, maintain consistent pressure so the driver bit does not spin freely inside the bit recess.

WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG FOR THE SCREW TO START IN THE TIMBER?
When starting, Quickshot™ will carve out its own hole, this reduces pressure on the timber and prevents splitting, progress at this stage may seem a little slow, however once the thread engages the screw will pull itself into the timber relatively quickly.

WHY IS SMOKE GENERATED DURING THE INSTALLATION?
Due to the Quickshot™ non split tip design, you may see some smoke being generated in the early course of driving the screw, this is normal and will vary according to the RPM and the moisture content of the decking.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM DISTANCE FROM THE EDGE I CAN DRILL INTO?
For best non split results, ensure you don't go any closer then 10mm from the cut edge of the decking board.
If you do experience splitting, pre-drill in close to edge application.

CAN I USE QUICKSHOT™ TO ATTACH TIMBER DECKING BOARD TO A METAL JOIST?
No. Quickshot™ is designed to be used for fixing timber decking boards to timber joists.
